What is DNA Databank and how INDIA will implement it?

DNA Database for India is an Ambitious project for a nation worth 1.3b population ,DNA databank is a database of DNA profiles which can be used in the analysis of genetic diseases, genetic fingerprinting for criminology, or genetic genealogy.

The DNA Based Technology Bill, was first formed in 2015.
•AP govt had done a partnership to build the database with the German genomics and precision medicine company Shivom with the help of BlockChain Technology

DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2018
•To strengthen the justice delivery system of the country.
•The utility of DNA based technologies for solving crimes, and to identify missing persons, is well recognized across the world.
• mandatory accreditation and regulation of DNA laboratories, assurance that the DNA test results are reliable ,data remain protected from misuse or abuse in terms of the privacy rights of our citizens.
•Increased conviction rate.

The DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid)
•A DNA ‘profile’is a series of 20 numbers plus an indicator that shows the gender of the person.
•DNA sequences contain repetitions of (cytosine [C], guanine [G], adenine [A] or thymine [T]), in the form of palindrome.

History
•First established in the United Kingdom in April 1995, aka National DNA Database (NDNAD).
•contained about 5.7 Million profiles till 2015
•till now 54 nations have national DNA databases and many are planning to implement soon.
•Originally DNA samples were recorded of Convict criminals but now even on mere suspect samples are recorded.

Objectives
•Forensic - Forensic scientists can use DNA in blood, semen, skin, saliva or hair found at a crime scene ,DNA Database help 60% cases in UK.
•Genealogical - storing genome sequences ,DNA profiling is the process of determining an individual's DNA characteristics, which are as unique as fingerprints.
•Medical -  making new medicines, advancement in the field of genetic engineering
